A practical course and exam for anyone who uses or owns a fixed or handheld marine VHF radio. A radio is an important piece of safety equipment on board and it is vital to understand the correct procedures. The Short Range Certificate is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio either fixed or hand held.
Objective
To be able to operate the radio and know the procedures required to use the radio.

Classroom Based Course
How does it work?
1. Book through our Course Calendar
2. We will send you a booking form to complete
3. We will send you a paperback VHF course book
4. You can complete the pre-course study then attend the course at Keyhaven
5. We will arrange for an examiner to come in on the evening of the course and deliver your exam

SRC Classroom Exam £76 (Payment through the RYA and available at any centre)
