This book invites you to explore the Solent’s
many harbours and anchorages, each with its
own character and tale to tell. We will consider
the landmarks and landscapes, and delve into
the practical aspects of cruising these cherished
waterways. Along the way, we’ll pause to
celebrate the wildlife and the enduring spirit of
a place where the sea and shore meet in perfect
harmony.

Tim grew up in Lymington, sailing and boating on both Lymington and Keyhaven Rivers. He races dinghies, cruises a Sadler 34, works on powerboats and as such, knows the Solent waters rather well, and from all angles. As a child, his family holidays were often spent moored up the River Yar, messing about in a Mirror, kayak or rubber dubber, whiling away the time exploring creeks or prawning in amongst the seaweed. He has spent 15 years teaching science but also holds RYA Yachtmaster Offshore (Sail), Powerboat Instructor, Advanced Powerboat and Dinghy Instructor certificates, and runs an RYA Training Centre, West Solent Sea School. Recently, he has spent time working in the Canaries and the Caribbean as a safety inspector for yachts embarking on circumnavigations. He has always enjoyed language; writing and explaining things in the most effective and interesting way, and has written for Yachting Monthly, Practical Boat Owner and World Cruising.
